• Kitty just came in all spooked. I heard some yowling before. Now I pet kitty in comfort. Only there’s two kitties and I’m not sure that this is the same kitty I saw all spooked before. This could be the perpetrator of the yowling! Curses!

I finished my very first zine yesterday. The first thing I have called “zine” anyway. I usually call them “little books”. Come to think, that’s what I continue to call it in my head and out loud. So.

I have finished a little book entitled “Little String”. It took a whole day longer than expected because the printer said something like “function malf” or something. I don’t remember the exact words on the little screen. I stuck my fingers in to the top after flipping up the flippy thing and rattled the toner thing around until the printer was fixed. Then I sighed in a contented fashion and gave the printer a hug. I love this printer when it isn’t broken. When it is broken I become vexed and unruly.

  • It’s September now which means I am on my annual search for spiritual truth.

Of course! You knew I was going to say that!

After a few years of Aithism, and a couple as a Non-practicing AthistAthiest, this year I think I’ll try Buddhism. This is because the Dalai Lama was in Vancouver this week and I saw a report about it on the news.

I wish that didn’t sound as flakey as it does.

The last time I seriously tried to be religious I printed out everything I could from the internet about Wicca, organized it all in a big binder, and completely forgot about it. I found the binder again lately and said to myself “What. The. Hell is this?”

I don’t even know how to spell “Aithism” “Atheism”.

  • Lesson Learned

When I am cold I shouldn’t sit at my computer and complain about it I should go do something. For example, clean my room. Now I am warm and my room is, well, bordering on tidy.

  • I’m so cold.

There was rain in the night or early morning. I got up and heard a dripping noise and just couldn’t define it in my vocabulary of sounds.

I think I was warm for about five days this summer. I mean, warm for all day in shade or wherever I was. Now I’m cold again. New development though: when my feet are cold they ache.

    Hoo hoo.

  • Tomorrow is Friday

Today I drove to Nanaimo and sold all of my level two textbooks. Good. Check.

Nanaimo was sunny for a change and all the students were young and fresh-faced. I miss school.

    I don’t miss school.

  • Yeah so Susan. One day in Nov you want to get together and write, say 1666 words each somewhere? It might be fun.

I’m going to Nanaimo tonorrow! Hip hip… hmm.

  • Are you going to do novel-in-a-month this year, Susan? I haven’t decided fully if I will or not, despite having come up with a good idea that would probably get me through. (What’s better than a spin-off of my spin-off, which will actually spin-back to the original story? Nothing, I say.)

I spent ALL DAY working on getting my zine to print pretty. I wasn’t writing it, which I’ve done already and took about 2 hours. I wasn’t laying it out, which I completed easily on Saturday. I was trying to make my printer make it print out good. This wasn’t laying it out on some fancy computer program, it was using the photo-copy option on my scanner to send information to my printer. It ended up working good only if I used a program on my compter to make it look like I had used a photocopier. Why didn’t I just use a photo-copier? This is a fine question to ask and I will give a polite answer after I bang my head against my desk for a while…

My method is cheaper. Not in time, obviously, but in cash. This works out well, since i have lots of time, being unemployed, but being unemployed I have lots of time. Ah, glee.

  • Lindsie & Caffeine

    I have a story:

I am a little sleepy after lunch and I don’t want to take a nap. I have tea. The caffeine makes me more energetic but my eyes are sleepy. Later I “crash” and lie down for a nap but am still caffeinated so I can’t sleep. I turn into walking zombie: too tired to do anything but unable to sleep.

    *It Drives Me MAD*

  • My certificate in Applied Business Tech just came in the mail. Now I can really start to look for a job.

See? SEE? This certificate indicates my validity!

  • Sleeping Post

I couldn’t get to sleep last night. Then when I was asleep there was a party or something beside my room with some whooping and coughing. I lay awake for a couple of hours after that, and when I was asleep again the phone kept ringing.

I’m tired today and pretty much good for nothing!

    I hope I get a job soon.*

*This is, of course, the wrong attitude to take, as I learned in my whatever “get a job” class. The right attitude would be to go out and get a job.
