So I took the train to Duncan this morning. The first trestle was
fine, I even leaned over to see further down. Fun. But the train
sort of leaned over during the course of the second trestle, so I got
the view whether I wanted it or not. And in this case, with the train
leaning over like it was, I didn’t really want to see the view. I
leaned in the opposite direction– you know, to make sure that the
train didn’t tip down into the raveen. And then in the middle of the
span, the train stopped, just so we could all enjoy the view. Eeeeee!

In passing.
Through my open apartment window, I can smell someone’s dinner cooking. It smells delicious. I can also hear someone *typing on a typewriter*.
I want dinner and a typewriter!!

I thought I was going to stay in bed this morning and read, but instead I got up and took my bed apart to wash it. The laundry fee in the building is going up a whole shiny quarter per loadon Tuesday so I thought I’d get a token wash in to save money. I’m OK for the rise, however, as currently my ratio of quarters (of which I will now need three per load) to loonies (one per load) is in favour of the quarters.
Note: Vanilla Rice Milk is good in Earl Grey tea.
I also meant to have a light breakfast (guacamole or oatmeal) but instead I had:
5 perogies
3 bacons
2 eggs
5 cherry tomatoes
1 mug of Earl Grey tea with Vanilla Rice MilkNone of my plans for today are working out at all! Not to fret, however, as I will make up a new bed and rest in it later
Note 2: This week I was complimented twice on my use of the word “Fret”. As in “Don’t fret if I am late back from my break” and “Have you been fretting all day?”

Books of the weekend, by Lindsie.
I read two books this weekend. They were easy and entertaining. The first was “Life of Pi” which many people have read before me and have declaired “good”. I can’t argue with this, however, there were too many animals, or details of animals. Whatever. I also read “The Flying Troutmans” by Miriam Toews. Quite lovely, and made me, with my empathy-superpower, act flaky for a little while. Here is a quote as part of this review that will hopefully demonstrate my appreciation of the work: “Thebes said that if she was eighteen and old enough to drink she’d start a book club.”I read these books while in the sun and now my skin smells sweet.
PS! Susan and I were walking downtown yesterday and overheard the following:
Old Lady: That’s a lovely jacket.
Hard Core Punk: Thank you, I made it myself.
Old Lady: Well it’s beautiful.
Hard Core Punk: Thank you.
Me and Susan (just passing by): Hehehehe! Awesome!

I have two lunch dates planned this week (so far, Susan!). One is a hamburger eating contest. Life be good, considering this is a five day workweek for me. AND considering I just paid my first ever phone bill. That’s right. Mark the day.

I was in Duncan again this weekend. I have to stop doing this: I have things I should be doing here, instead. Next weekend I will probably stay put? Who knows. That’s so far away from now.
Mum and I visited a gallery in Cedar on Saturday. It was delightful and full of purchase-able trinkets, which I did do (purchase things). There was also a garden and I liked it all.
I also read my first Hermann Hesse this weekend. I think it went well. Not a big story, but written well, and about a painter with much description of that process, so that was handy and made me feel better. A little bit of a thinky book, less than emotional (despite the content) but I liked the thinky (i.e. I tried to stop reading it but then decided I would rather continue to enjoy more of the layers and such). It also wasn’t very long. It was “Rosshalde”.
I also cut beans for bean soup. Cutting beans for soup is different than cutting them for canning. They are cut on an angle, and at about half the length as for canning. This means that it takes a long time to cut them. I was rewarded, however, with a trip to Superstore (for pasta) and WalMart (for a new winter duvet and cover). I was also rewarded with bean soup, made by Mum.

-This is what I’m covering up
-I forgot that the blue was meant to remain pure
-this is what you’re thinking when I ask how you are feeling
-several hundred dollars worth of paint (photos documenting the destruction of my stupid painting? I don’t know. Maybe I’ll just cover it up with “This is what I’m covering up”) -The view outside my window/ The view from inside my head

This past Saturday was spent in Honeymoon Bay. It was the same, only with meat jerky. Also this is the first time I’ve ever had a bathing suit cover for pre-swim times.
I think my painting might be working now. Right now it’s called “I forgot that the blue was meant to remain pure.” Or “I forgot that the blue was meant to remain blue”. As I have painted over all of the blue.
Yesterday, which was Sunday, I woke up at 4am. As this is a stupid time to start the day I tried to sleep. Failing that, I tried to read myself back to sleep. Failing that I got up and had spaghetti dinner, as I was hungry. Then my day had to start, of course. I cleaned the bathroom, as it was getting to be 6 or 6:30 by this time. Then I waited around for 8am to come so I could do my laundry (the laundry room in my building doesn’t open until then). Then, laundry done around 10, I waited around some more for some particular stores to open so I could purchase manga. (I think I was watching Doctor Whos while I waited.) None of the stores had the manga I wanted. I bought groceries instead and came home and ordered manga with the help of Internet. I made pizza dough, and then pizza. I read this month’s Walrus. I waited around for the SYTYCD finale rerun to start (again: i missed the first rebroadcast) and then watched that (I missed the first hour on Thurs when it was originally on). I ate corn flakes. I watched The Simpsons. I realized I was feeling too smart or impatient to watch TV. I decided my day was going on waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I thought about doing Sudoku puzzles.

I hope it really is a day off today because I’m so not prepared to go anywhere. Except maybe dollar giant.
I mailed some letters yesterday and since it’s a long weekend and no pick up until Tuesday, I am imagining my letters all alone in the mailbox still, waiting.
The book I am reading now is “The Gargoyle” by Andrew Davidson. All the reviews I have read of this book said it is good, and I concur.
I would like to note that this will be my first use of the word “concur” having only recently fully believed that it means “agree.” I first heard it used by Taylor at Camosun. He said “I concur,” and I was like “Oh good… Wait… does “concur” mean “agree?”” Apparently, it does.
I fixed my fan yesterday. At first I thought I could just “hammer” out the solution, but in the end I went to Home Hardware and purchased nuts. I fastened these the the screws in the base of the fan, and now my fan remains upright indefinitely. Opposed to before yesterday, where it would stand for a while and then decide to lie down.
P.s. My goddam awesome new phone isn’t connecting so I can’t goddam change my facebook status on it. This isn’t a problem as I am not actually anywhere away from my home computer, right? But I want it to work since yesterday I finally switched off my mum’s plan and have to pay for the GD thing on my own now. POOP in a HAT.
