  • I have the aftertaste of blackberry wine in my mouth. How decadent. How Extreme!

I am on the cusp of a longish weekend. I work Monday, which is the actual holiday, but I don’t work tomorrow or any of the other weekend days. My new work schedule, for the time being, is thus: Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed 3-10, which doesn’t work well for dance classes, but does work well for my bank account. The question now being: will this make me happy? Does happiness matter? Who am I? Why am I here? Etc, etc.

Everyone was nice to me at work today. Everyone is usually nice to me, but I noticed today because I was in a bad mood to start, but then tea and nice people made everything ok. Tea and nice people make for a nice day and a pleasant work environment. I wore my new brown short-pants, and a yellow t-shirt with a collar and a brown sweater vest. The vest was a good idea because I had the sea breeze coming in from odd angles all day which was nice, but cool.

  • One or the other of our clever kitties went out and caught the bird that flew into the window. They brought it inside and played with it happily until it escaped and is now up on the window sill above the door. Our defective kitties don’t actually know how to kill things, just play-with-them-to-death. Or to-escape, which ever comes first, or until whenever they get bored and go for a nap.

Vanilla Earl Grey tea is yummoriffic with a bunch of soy milk poured in with it. Even cold, as it has gotten now that I don’t want to go upstairs to microwave it warm again because there’s a freaked out bird up there that will poop on me if I get too close.

  • I haven’t fully unpacked yet. I mean to do it today but haven’t gotten to it yet. I had a chai (tea) from a package and boy was it sweet. I had to dump out half of the cup into another cup and add more soymilk. And this was after I’d made a 50/50 ratio drink. Too sweet and now I’m all twitchy from it. So tasty.

I have too much in my head. Stupid thinking too much. I would like to focus.

I made reprints of most of all of my Tiny String Library.

I still have to download pictures off of my camera and organize them and whatever. I don’t want to do that today, either. I have to unpack my suitcase soonish though because mum and dad are going on a trip for the long weekend and they might like to use it… it’s theirs, actually, not so much mine.

I bought miso to make miso soup, in theory. I haven’t yet because we had bean soup for supper last night and Dad will mock me probably. I totally had eggy rice for breakfast. I haven’t had this for a long time and it was yummy. It was with sushi rice, too. And a side of dumplings. I only have food in my head right now, I guess.

I cut my fingernails but I still can’t type.

  • Still in the Air

I’m going to have a bit of a race for my next airplane. I have ten minutes between landing and the boarding time. I don’t think I’ll have time but I’d like a sandwich and a bathroom. Me and Pearson are not in a league together.

I’m flying across the country today! It’s pretty boring. I was amused for a while because there are individual TVs on this airplane so I could watch TV shows. But now my ears are sore from wearing earphones and there’s nothing else I want to watch. The news feature is disabled and also the map–which I hoped showed where we were?– is also not working.

Now we are starting to go down and it makes my tummy feel funny.

  • In the Air

I was walking with Sarah and Ted last night only I had to switch places with Ted because he has to walk on the curb side of the sidewalk when walking with Sarah. This was inbetween their 1st ans second dinner last night. The first was fish and chips with me. That one started with just me and Sarah chatting over cod tongues and Sprite and ended with Ted, Anne, Naomi, Amber and Mia all of us eating Regular Fish and Chips dinners. The CFA’s all got certificates saying that we had received the best fish and chips in Newfoundland. I’m glad I go some chatting time with just Sarah.

After fish and chips was lasagne with Sarah’s family. They had rented a house for the week (?) and so made dinner. I didn’t even know I was invited to this one until sitting at fish and chips but when I got there Sarah’s mum was all dairy-worried. It was nice visit with aunts and uncles I don’t really know but all look like Sarah.

After lasagna S&T were off to margaritas and nachos someplace and I was off to bed.

Also yesterday, in the day time, N,A,M and I were at the Basillica which was pretty amazing. This was kind of late in the morning because we were tired from being at the bar ’til the wees the night before.

Also yesterday I packed which isn’t really interesting enough to describe, and took a lot of pictures of my temporary surroundings. Also went for all-you-can-eat sushi, which almost prevented me from taking Sarah’s 4:30 early invite for fish and chips because I thought I might still be full, but the chips were so good and the cod tongues came with deep-fried pork fat cubes. Very, very tasty.

  • St. John’s

Today we went to the Basilica and then out for sushi lunch. Later there is planned fish and chips for dinner with Anne, N&A’s host, to be followed by a Haunted Hike about the city. My back is sore today so I’ve taken an ibuprofen. I am packed as much as I can– without putting away my shampoo which I need for a shower tomorrow. I washed my pants last night when I got home at 3! It was a good idea because they were smelly. Also I meant to wear my skirt today but wasn’t sure if it wouldn’t be too windy. The pants dried completely overnight, which makes them good pants. I’ll wear them again tomorrow because I think they will be more comfortable for travelling all day than a skirt. I have 2 granola bars left and some sugar-free ginger cookies to pack with me for snacking. I’m not even thinking about the massive travel time I have to undertake tomorrow. Urg. Well, I have about 95% of my book to finish so I could get into that if I want; also my mp3 player is charged.

Now I wait for the guy to come so I can pay for my room, I hope.

On my walk before I found the store that sells Coronation St. souvenirs. I didn’t buy any.

  • I went out drinking with Sarah, Ted and friends. Ooooh fun. At a pub. After went back to Sarah’s and drank more and drank and talked. Now I drink water and sleep? Hopefully: one drink was a rum and coke. Yeah.

    Best sentence ever:
“My great-aunt gave me 3 condoms that you can use.” — Sarah
Well, it was funny when I was drunkish.

  • I don’t know what’s happened to N&A. Naomi said they were up until 4:30 in the morning. So I went to the Rooms today finally. Then I walked around Water St. again for some chocolates for Jordan. I also got a Subway (for me) because I was hungry.

The rest of the wedding was good. I drank rum and hugged Sarah and wrote a little story in the guestbook. Then I used up all of the orange juice with gingerale and pina colada rum drink. And walked around and talked to people from Duncan and to people from Newfoundland.

I bought some Purity Peppermint Lumps which are made in St. John’s. They are very big lumps and I wish I could bite them in half but they are too hard.

  • St. John’s

I woke a little groggy this morning.

  • St. John’s

I went for bacon and eggs this morning just by myself and the waitress gave me 3 minty candies at the end. Hehe.

I just returned from the ceremony part of Sarah’s wedding. It was good. They did a handfasting. I should probably call it “Sarah and Ted’s Wedding” but I know what my priorities are. The rain started almost at the end of the ceremony and then got worse after taking pictures on the tractor– during which Sarah was holding a polka-dot, frilly umbrella. Then there was more rain and tea. Now the actual reception party doesn’t start until 5 so I’ve changed into pants (I don’t think anyone needed a picture of me in my skirt?) and will umbrella back down the hill in a little while. I want to lie down even though I had tea this morning so probably no sleep will happen.
